Make it safe, photograph the damage and notify your insurer. Then ask for a repair quote.
Switch off the power to an automatic gate and do not move a bent gate. If a known vehicle caused the damage, that vehicle's compulsory motor insurance (liikluskindlustus) normally covers it. If the vehicle was not identified, you can turn to the Estonian Traffic Insurance Fund (Liikluskindlustuse Fond). For storm damage, check the terms of your home insurance.

What to do right after the damage
These steps matter both for safety and for claiming compensation.
Photos
Photograph the damage from a distance and close up, including vehicle marks, a fallen tree or any other cause. Note the date and time.
Vehicle
If the driver is known, exchange contact and insurance details. If the driver left, report it to the police and contact the Traffic Insurance Fund.
Insurance
Notify your insurer. Ask us for a written repair quote that you can pass on with your claim.

If the vehicle is known, its compulsory motor insurance normally covers the damage. If it was not identified, you can turn to the Traffic Insurance Fund (LKF), which may apply a deductible of up to €150. If you drove into your own fence, motor insurance does not cover it.
