Short answer
A sliding gate sticks or sags when the rollers wear, the carriages work loose or the base settles.
A shifted top guide or catcher also makes the gate rub. Rollers and guides can usually be replaced and adjusted on site. A settled base or a frame bent by an impact needs more work.

What you can check yourself
Look at the gate from the side and from below. If the gate is badly skewed or off its rollers, do not force it.
Height at the end
Check whether the free end of the gate sits lower than before or drags into the catcher. This points to loose carriages or a settled base.
Noise
Clunking and squeaking while moving usually come from worn rollers or loose bolts.
After an impact
If a car has hit the gate, check whether the frame is bent. Do not keep running a bent gate with the drive.
